I thought so too, but I guess you can also say it for taking the pants off of someone. It's supposed to be a surprise, but... [He shrugs. He's not about to do to someone what Isashiki-senpai did to him, not least of all because that's a lot of effort.]

[octopot]

Man, humans come up with the weirdest things. [ But uh. ] I guess we could always try it.

[staminaroll]

[It doesn't make a ton of sense to him either, but he had it done to him and he really doesn't want to lose to Isashiki-senpai over this. He approaches two of Takasu's tentacles and crouches down.]

No problem.

[ He takes the pants, and pulls on the pants. ]

This is much weirder than when I had human legs, and that was weird too. People got upset when I didn't want to wear pants or underwear.

[staminaroll]

[Furuya's a little surprised when Takasu takes the pants, but then again he does have eight tentacles so it's not like he can't do it himself.]

You had human legs? Was that here?

[octopot]

[ So is he supposed to button them up because he doesn't think he can do that without some tentacle squishing. ]

Yeah, for a little while, when I first got here, I was entirely human. ...it was weird. How do you guys even work only two legs? I never got the hang of that.

[staminaroll]

[Nah, they're just coming off anyway. Furuya didn't think this through, he'd've brought sweatpants if he'd planned it out.]

How did that happen? Did this place do that to you? [A pause while he looks at his own legs.] I've only ever had two so I'm not sure. I don't think I could manage with eight. That seems like a lot to keep track of.

[octopot]

[ That would've been a better option. ]

The Landlord has some magic trick that turns everyone human when they arrive here. [ Oh! ] Not at all, I think they're really easy to work with!

[staminaroll]

Really? How did you get turned back?

[He starts to reach forward toward the pants--this is way more awkward than he expected it to be, and also now they're probably wet. Oops.]

If you're used to it it must seem easier. I wouldn't know what to do.

[octopot]

I dunno, it just happened one day when I opened a mail I got.

[ It was his birthday, but he's forgotten the date, so he didn't realize it was a birthday present. He's thinking bout about figuring out why he suddenly got that kind of mail instead of thinking about the pants. ]

Ah, yeah, I suppose that's right.

[staminaroll]

You opened a letter and got your legs back?

[Between Kazuki-san's instant marriage and Takasu's instant legs, Furuya's pretty much off opening mail ever again here.]

[octopot]

Yeah, I did. Weird, right?

[ Are they scaring him off from opening mail? That's at least not Takasu's intentions. ]

[staminaroll]

[Probably nobody's intentions but Furuya's surprisingly impressionable.]

Were they in the letter?

[octopot]

[ Ah, sorry, then. He can always ask one of his family members to help him if he needs it. ]

No, it was completely empty. But when I opened it my normal legs just appeared.

[staminaroll]

[He'd have to get mail first, really. All he gets is landlord stuff now.]

Magic... Are you magic too, Takasu?

[Clearly this is the obvious answer.]

[octopot]

[ Maybe if he got a pen pal... ]

Nope, I'm not. I'm just a normal octopus.

[staminaroll]

[Furuya would very much like to debate that--most octopi can't talk, can they?--but he doesn't want to be rude to his father.

Instead he crouches down near the tentacles with the pants on them.]

Can I take these off now?

[octopot]

[ Well... Takasu can talk to other octopi, and other sea creatures... But humans probably can't. ]

Oh! Yeah, sure thing!

[staminaroll]

[Furuya could theoretically talk to Mikuni but that doesn't mean the same thing. He'd be very impressed to know Takasu is bilingual.

He starts to reach forward but pauses. This is so awkward.]

[octopot]

[ Being bilingual in human and fish was sort of natural, when you sort of lived in both worlds. Learning the body language of shy sharks is a bit harder, but doable.

Takasu raises his eyebrows at the boy. ]

Nothing to be shy about, Satoru.

[staminaroll]

[Some day when he realizes exactly what that means, Furuya will probably try to learn fish. "Try."

It's even weirder with Takasu looking at him like it's not weird, so he reaches out and yanks the pants down, or attempts to. They've gotten wet, so it's not as easy as he'd imagined, but eventually he does manage to pants his dad.]

Thank you. Those are a lot softer than I thought they'd be.

[His tentacles. Furuya imagined they'd be slimier than that but they seem sort of velvety.]

[ And Takasu will find that absolutely adorable. He as the best son.

Takasu would have helped him and ger out of them if it wouldn't be pointless. But he grins again at Furuya. ]

No problem! And 'course they're soft!

[ Even if they are a bit slimy. Not the same slimy as Wakasa or Agari, but a little slimy. ]

[He would've appreciated the help but yeah, pantsing means he's got to do the weird part. It goes all right though.]

I thought they might be tougher or harder.

[octopot]

Really? So you've never touched octopus arms before?

[ Don't they have octopuses at those big aquariums? ]

[staminaroll]

[He just shakes his head a little. He was always more of a big animal type; his experience with octopus is mostly of the cooked variety.]

And none of them were this big.
